Show Notes

Kauai’s Mike Coots is a premier oceanic photographer, passionate shark advocate, effervescent Good Samaritan, and GoPro Hero. He loves nothing better than swimming with sharks—when not surfing beside them with the aid of the prosthetic leg required after a 12-foot, 1,200-pound tiger shark tried to make a meal of him. His "impossible" escape and ebullient, infectious “I’m living on borrowed time” attitude has landed him on CBS, NBC, CNN, MSN, PBS, BBC, and Discovery; in The Washington Post, Daily Mail, National Geographic, Smithsonian, Outside, Parade, and Reader’s Digest.

Mike’s designated charity is San Diego-based Challenged Athletes Foundation, which pays for the often extremely expensive, highly specialized devices, rehab and training so physically challenged athletes can compete and be respected at the same level as able-bodied athletes. https://www.challengedathletes.org/mission-and-history/
